People go to school to get their education. Education is when you go to school and you graduate after wards you get an education. Ii is really important to get your education because it helps you to live better in life. When you have an education you can have a steady job, and live a better life.. It is really hard to understand that when you are young and have so many thing running in your head. Just like the boy from the story "From Kaffir Boy" by "Mark Mathabane" Johannes. Johannes does not like school at first, he didn't want to go to school at first because he wanted to be a gangster. But after wards his view of education changes.
Johannes did not want go to school at first he thought school was just a waste of time. "I vowed never to go because school was a waste of time." He thought that he could be doing something better than going to school, something more exciting. It shows that he was interested in different things and school was not one of them. He wanted something more exciting. He wanted to be like the boys who had long left their homes and then lived in the streets, slept in abandoned cars, smoked glue and other things. "Their lifestyle was exciting, adventurous and full of suprises, and I was attracted to it." He was interested in the wrong things, he thought the bad things were good and exciting. He wanted to be a bad boy, he wanted to follow everybody else. He wanted to be the same as every young boy. He wanted to live a crazy life, and steal, drink beer and do a lot of drugs. His feelings for education started changing. He saw all the trouble his mom went through so he can go to school. His mom wanted him to go to school so he can have a better future. She told him that his father didn't go to school that's why now he drinks and beats her, and she doesn't want him to turn out like is father. "All the confusion I had about school seemed to leave my mind, like darkness giving away to light." All the nasty thoughts he had and what the persons had told him was going away and he started realizing that his education was important to him and to his mom. His mom really loved him and wanted to be a good boy and asked him to stay in school. "I promised her that I would go to school forever." He understood her and wanted to make her happy. Not only her but also himself. He is going to be good from now on he was going to make a decision and everything was based on him, he was chosen to fight for himself with his mother on the side. Everything is based on him, his future. Everybody life is depending on themselves. Everything is up to you, you choose your future. You get a lot of help in school, to get your education. Education is really important to be someone in your life. Like a doctor, nurse, anything you want to be. It all starts with your education in school.
